This installment in about another one of Raphael's Seven assisting the Archangel Neha in an investigation. As Raphael's Spymaster, Jason is an angel of few words and trusts very little. His loyalty to Raphael is put to the test but stands admirably straight. While it's a paranormal romance, I was not surprised that a very private man would not open up and transform into pussy whipped guy. It is just not the kind of character Jason is and would not be believable as a man of intelligence gathering. Some would find his romance with the princess Mahiya quite cold but I think it is just right. The pace is slower than in the previous books because the emphasis is on discovering court intrigue. If there is lack of tender moments between the main couple, it is remedied with glimpses of the previous pairing (Dmitri and Honor). All in all, it's more a 4.5 stars but since I like this author and hope for Illium's book soon.
